Hola Reader! This week I had an unexpected reality check hit me. I've now been in Lisbon for two weeks and the city is still really new to me. It hit me that the first time I ever visited was only a year and a half ago and it was because I knew I wanted to stay in Europe that I'd have to move here. So when I visited back in September of 2022, I visited knowing the purpose of my trip was unlike any other I had done before. With Barcelona I knew before going that eventually I wanted to live there. I first visited in 2011 and by then I knew what my dream was. And I made it happen. From 2019 to 2022 I called Barcelona home. Lisbon was never really that dream. So now that it's here I feel slightly conflicted. I'm excited, but I'm also feeling a bit out of place. Because it wasn't the goal, but now I've made it my reality. Hola Reader! It's been 2 months now that I've moved to Lisbon and I'm loving the life I'm creating for myself here. I'm taking time to do hobbies I've been wanting to do for a while (dance), regularly have social meet ups whether it's brunches, co-working sessions or just random meet ups to do things like go out to eat, bowling, etc. This doesn't just happen overnight, but it's nice it's happening. Hola Reader! April 25th in Portugal is Freedom Day, the day the dictatorship ended 50 years ago. There were fireworks, parades, and people everywhere. It's a National Holiday here and also my dad's birthday.
